Persuasive essays seek to persuade the reader about a given issue or topic of contention. By the end of the essay, you should have been able to convince the reader to perceive the issue under contention in the same manner you perceive it.
Thus, before writing the essay, gather enough information and evidence to support your argument. Develop an outline so you give your essay a flawless logical flow. Provide a strong thesis statement that should serve as the beginning of your persuasion.
In the body, develop first few paragraphs with points supporting your argument. They should be made up of strong topic sentences and supporting sentences containing relevant evidence. Since you are persuading and there are arguments against your position, expect these counter-arguments and provide rebuttals.
In the conclusion, restate your position and remind the reader why they should agree with it. Also, reassert to them why they should not agree with a contrary opinion.
